Aunque todavía no esta en categoría de Huracán, Harvey tiene el potencial de causar grandes daños. Desde los últimos días, varias paginas amateur de meteorología de Estados Unidos, marcaban la posibilidad de que este sistema se dirigiera al sur del país, y lentamente la opción se fue consolidando. Hoy en día, las trayectorias probables lo ponen en el sur de Texas, con precipitaciones que podrían llegar a los 1200 mm!!

#Harvey se organiza MUY RÁPIDO en las guas cálidas del Golfo de México… se espera que alcance al Sur de #Texas como categoría de HURACÁN… preocupan las torrenciales lluvias que puede haber en la zona…


#HARVEY se intensifica MUY rápidamente en las aguas super cálida del golfo de México… un avión CAZA-huracanes acaba de ingresar en HARVEY y registró 986 hPa (10 hpa menos que hace 5 horas) y con vientos casi con fuerza de huracán… cuidado que el sistema esta cruzando sobre un remolino de agua muy caliente profunda y suelen ser fuente de intensificación rápida, y la tormenta podría ser huracán en pocas horas y ser mucho más fuerte cuando afecte a tierra… OJO!!


 

 

 

 

 

Harvey regained tropical storm strength overnight, and is centered as of 4 a.m. CDT about 425 miles (680 km) south-southeast of Port O’Connor, Texas. Air Force Reserve and NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft report that the maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening during the next 48 hours is forecast and Harvey is expected to become a hurricane by Friday.

A Storm Surge Warning is in effect along the Texas coast from Port Mansfield to San Luis Pass, a Storm Surge Watch from south of Port Mansfield to the Mouth of the Rio Grande and from north of San Luis Pass to High Island. A Hurricane Warning is in effect from Port Mansfield to Matagorda, a Tropical Storm Warning from north of Matagorda to High Island, and from south of Port Mansfield to the Mouth of the Rio Grande. A Hurricane Watch and Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from south of Port Mansfield to the Mouth of the Rio Grande. A Tropical Storm Watch is effect from south of the Mouth of the Rio Grande, Texas, to Boca de Catan Mexico. Hurricane conditions are likely within the hurricane warning area late Friday or Friday night, with tropical storm conditions possible by Friday.

Harvey is likely to bring multiple hazards, including heavy rainfall, storm surge, and possible hurricane conditions to portions of the Texas coast beginning on Friday. For specific local information, go to www.weather.gov
